In order to add some new content to the site, as well as give me an excuse to watch films I’ve missed thus far in life, the marathon series has begun. What is the first subject to be delved into you ask? Yes, that’s right, Julia Roberts. Admittedly, I’ve never been a huge fan of hers as an actress, and thus haven’t seen many of her major works. The fact of the matter is, I only have one review of a movie including her in the cast list—Valentine’s Day, where she has about fifteen minutes of screen time.

So, an old friend and Roberts apologist, Christa Tokarik, was kind enough to single out five movies I need to see to achieve a better understanding of this master thespian that has eluded me thus far. The films in this marathon will include 1990’s Pretty Woman, 1991’s Sleeping with the Enemy, 1993’s The Pelican Brief, 1997’s My Best Friend’s Wedding, and 2000’s Erin Brockovich. I’ve seen the last two, but not since they’ve been released, so it’ll be a revisiting and perhaps a more objective look into the stylings of the woman with all the teeth. They earned a 4/10 and 5/10 respectively back then, maybe they’ll fare a bit better now … or worse.
